Jimdo Review 2022:Is It Worth Buying?

What is Jimdo?

Jimdo is a one-stop shop for building websites or creating online stores. Depending on the plan you choose, you can use it for, buy domain names, design and host websites, blogs, and sell products online.
This is a “hosted” solution, which means it runs in a browser-no software is required to be installed on your own computer, and you don’t need to purchase any hosting services.
This idea is the key technical elements of your website—domains, templates, hosting, and content management systems are all provided by Jimdo. You only need to add content.
How many people use Jimdo? Why is this important?
According to data from the Internet statistics company Builtwith.com, Jimdo provides support for approximately 479,000 websites worldwide. In terms of perspective, Builtwith also reports that there are currently approximately 7 million online Wix sites and 2.8 million online Squarespace sites.
These numbers are important because there are many website building companies that provide website building services-some of which have only recently been established and do not have many paying customers. Using a brand new platform to build your website is risky-if the company goes bankrupt, your website is likely to collapse with it.
Although Jimdo is not the largest fish in the pond, it is still a fairly large and mature company with a considerable user base-so using its platform to build your website is relatively risk-free, as the company may keep its products updated To reflect the new development of website design, and is unlikely to disappear and take away your website.
So, Jimdo may be a pretty safe bet, but is it a good bet? Let’s dive into the price and features.jim

Jimdo Features
Easy to use
Many people choose website builders because they are easy to use. If they are difficult, no one will use them, and they will receive very bad reviews.
Thankfully, Jimdo is easy to use and provides a clean and clear editing and design interface.
Signing up for Jimdo is easy; you can log in with Facebook or Google, or enter your email address and create a password. This may seem trivial, but social login is very convenient because you actually have to click a button to do it.
Jimdo will ask you whether to create a website for yourself (or other individuals) or for a team/business.
If you don’t want to answer Jimdo’s questions and design your website through ADI, you can skip any steps you want and choose your own template.
Once you have a design or template ready, Jimdo’s editor is fairly easy to use.
You can click on any existing element or content fragment and replace it, add a new item or move it to your favorite location.
Alternatively, you can open the side panel of the Jimdo editor to access items such as cover, news, text, images, slideshows, music, and reservations (and more).
Although the process is relatively simple, it’s hard not to compare Jimdo with other website builders I’ve reviewed. Although it is easy to edit existing content, it is quite difficult to try to change the format or template design.

Unless you are happy to use (or replace) the content there instead of adding your own design style to your website, the editor will feel very strict. If you are happy to use a template and use it with minimal customization, Jimdo is a good choice.
However, if you pursue greater flexibility, you may find Jimdo too frustrating to use.
template

Jimdo provides more than 100 different templates that you can use to register their website builder.
Once you have selected your template, you can change it any time (unlike Wickers).
All of their templates are included and compatible with their functions, including online stores and blogs.
First, you can choose between business, store, personal profile, personal or all to choose the perfect template.
Unfortunately, you can’t preview it before choosing a template, which is a bit cumbersome, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. After choosing a template, choose whether you want to create a website, store, or blog.
Although their templates are fine-but I am scared. To me, they are nothing special, and to be honest, some seem a bit outdated.
If you want to take a second look at the awesome website builders who have provided incredible templates, take a look at My Wickers Vs SquareSpace and decide your winner.
Tools and functions
Jimdo’s templates may not be a fuss, but thankfully, their features and applications do allow you to improve slightly.
In the editor, you can select “Add Element” to view many features, including buttons, store items, share buttons, GoogleMaps, RSS feeds, forms, and guestbooks. To be honest, this list continues.
If you want to add plugins that Jimdo doesn’t have, they have partnered with a company called POWr plugins.
POWr provides plugins such as gallery, slider, e-commerce tools and forms. The biggest advantage is that it can be used with Jimdo for free.
At the time of writing this article, POWr and Jimdo’s partners have provided 38 unique plugins.
You can demonstrate any plug-in of POWr or add it to your site along with a simple tutorial.

Creating a Website with Jimdo Dolphin

Pros And Cons
advantage
In what ways does Jimdo stand out as a tool for small businesses?
multiple choices
Perhaps one of Jimdo’s greatest benefits is the variety of options it provides as a web builder. First of all, Jimdo provides two different ways to build your website, using Dolphin or Creator. If you want to launch your website as quickly and easily as possible, you can choose to use Dolphin AI to achieve this, which is great. This is also a worthwhile choice for business owners with little network experience.
Choosing Creator allows you to spend more time editing and customizing your website, but it is never too technical or difficult. Between these two architectural options, Jimdo allows you to choose from a total of ten different plans-allowing you to find the solution that best suits your business. Through all these different options, Jimdo can accommodate businesses from all industries and sizes.
By adding third-party tools, leveraging mobile applications, and the ability to create a website, blog or online store, Jimdo also provides great flexibility and accessibility.
Availability
There are many options to choose from, and Jimdo seems to focus on users through its service offerings—making usability one of its greatest benefits. Jimdo not only attracts users in terms of its planned products, but also provides a generally user-friendly platform.
With Jimdo Dolphin and Creator, you can quickly and easily set up your website, select and customize themes, upload images and videos, connect to other tools, and more. Anyone can see by creating a free account, the Jimdo dashboard is clean and easy to navigate, allowing you to manage your business website without spending time and trouble.
shortcoming
Despite these two huge benefits, Jimdo also has drawbacks.
Limited functionality
Although Jimdo provides you with the ability to create and launch a website, create a blog, and sell products, its features are relatively limited, especially when compared to competitors in the market. Weebly also offers a free plan that can simply provide a wider range of features-giving you the option to take advantage of email marketing tools, more than 300 third-party applications, and expanded e-commerce and customer support features.
In addition, Weebly’s most basic level (including online store features) Weebly Business provides more features than Jimdo Creator Platinum, and the price is much cheaper. Weebly is not the only competitor offering more features, as alternatives such as Squarespace, Wix, and Shopify seem to provide more features to your business website at a comparable cost.
One of the most significant limitations of Jimdo services is customer support. Although every paid plan includes “premium support”, Jimdo only provides support via email, and it takes one to two business days to get help from the Jimdo team. Squarespace provides 24/7 customer support for all of its plans, while Weebly provides chat and email support for its first two options, adding phone support to its two highest-level plans.

Jimdo Pricing
The Jimdo website plan has four tiers, including free plan options. There are also three e-commerce plan options.
Play/free plan
Jimdo allows anyone to sign up for the free Jimdo program. You have full access to the Jimdo website builder, including the Jimdo editor, editing on the Jimdo app from a mobile device, themes, and an SSL certificate for HTTPS encryption.
The main limitation is-you don’t have a support team available, you have to advertise.
You are limited to the Jimdo subdomain on username.jimdosite.com, not a custom domain.
Your storage space and 5 pages limit is 500MB.
Start planning
Jimdo’s Start Plan is their cheapest premium plan. You have full access to all Jimdo features, but limited to 10 website pages, 5GB storage space, and 10GB bandwidth.
Growth plan
Compared with the Start Plan, Jimdo’s Grow Plan has more storage space and more support options, but it is still limited to 50 pages.
Unlimited plan
Jimdo’s unlimited plan provides unlimited storage, pages and bandwidth, and several bundled add-ons.
Basic plan
Jimdo’s basic plan allows a simple online store to be built, albeit limited to 10 pages.
business plan
Jimdo’s business plan provides more e-commerce features, especially social media marketing, but limits the page to 50.
VIP Program
Jimdo’s VIP plan provides a full range of e-commerce functions, as well as unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, pages, and more.

Have to be aware of is:
All Jimdo plans include the following basic features:
– Access to curated templates that can be used to build the site.
–Your content storage and visitor access bandwidth (limits vary by plan).
–https://secure (SSL).
–Responsive design (your website will automatically resize to fit the device you are viewing-mobile, tablet, desktop, etc.).
–Blog function.
–Photo gallery.
Things to pay attention to-don’t miss out by choosing the wrong plan-are:

–Number of pages-The “Play” and “Start” plans limit you to 5 and 10 web pages respectively; the “Basic” plan also limits the number of pages to 10. Other plans allow you to create 50 pages.
–Storage and bandwidth-the more you pay, the more you get.
–Customer support-it is not available in the free Jimdo plan and can only be provided as a same day service for the “Grow” or higher plan.
–E-commerce functions: These are only available for “Business” and “Basic” plans.

The Dolphin editor was pleasantly surprised. You can immediately create a fairly effective first draft for your website. If you are ready to spend another hour or two to customize the text and add more subpages, the final product can look very impressive.
However, the basic level of SEO is currently disappointing. This new segment of smart website builders will be firmly established and develop further.
When testing the support options, Jimdo’s customer service team responded quickly to us and we were satisfied with their answers to our questions. But it would still be nice to have access to more help articles about this new Dolphin editor.
You can decide whether you want to use one of the competitors’ products to study the field of website creation more deeply, or just use a quick and painless way to remove Jimdo from your to-do list.
It’s fair to say that Jimdo provides an excellent tool for those who are not very tech-savvy, are pressed for time or just need a simple website. We would say that this website builder is perfect for photographers, designers, restaurants, and other small businesses that just want to start a basic online business.
However, if you pursue more complex functions, you can assume that this is not the right tool for you. If you fall into this category, we recommend that you check the other products offered.
